Capcom has been keeping the zombie-hunting police of Raccoon City busy. Two RE titles are in development for the 3DS (Mercenaries and Revelations), an HD compilation of last-gen classics is in the works for PS3 and XBox 360, and if Official XBox Magazine is correct, there’s going to be a brand new Resident Evil for the current-generation consoles.

The future of the Metal Gear franchise has been uncertain since the PS3′s Metal Gear Solid 4 grand finale. The PSP got another Big Boss-starring Cold War title with this year’s Peace Walker, and next-gen consoles will see the Raiden-themed prequel Metal Gear Solid: Rising later this year. And if a recent Konami survey is any indication, the Snake clan may slither onto Android phones in the near future.

Once hackers managed to ‘jailbreak’ the PlayStation 3, Sony started to panic. Early solutions involved shutting down jailbroken PS3s remotely, but the electronics company is working on a more permanent and seemignly less Orwellian answer. It appears that the rumored remake of Halo: Combat Evolved is, in fact, coming down the pipe. According to sources at Joystiq, the game will be getting a complete graphic overhaul, with new visual assets and revamped controls. This would be the first Halo FPS without the involvement of Bungie.
