The company is working with law enforcement to figure out who took that data. A goodwill program to ease our weeks of offline gaming will include a free month of PlayStation Plus, a free month of Qriocity (their music service) and probably $20 worth of free select PSN content.
Prior to this hack, Sony’s servers were being attacked for a month and a half. But Hirai doesn’t think Anonymous was behind this particular intrusion. Either way, the new position of “Chief Security Officer” has been created for PlayStation Network, and everyone should ask their bank or credit card companies to issue them new cards just in case that data was successfully stolen and decrypted.
